I bought a Canon s100 digi-cam today, took a few snapshots, and updated my webpage so I thought I'd share some pics with you...
First, here's a Buster Warenski "Carson Caper" knife I recently purchased... it looks a lot like the one our friend Paracelsus has.
This knife is an older example of Buster's work and was purchased from the son of its original owner in Salt Lake City. I was told it was made in the early/mid seventies, and the tang stamp, which reads "B. WARENSKI/ RICHFIELD. UT." is one of his earlier stamps.
The hollow ground, mirror finished blade is made of 3/16" stainless steel (440-C perhaps - I'm not sure) and measures 4" from guard to tip. The handle, made of cocobolo wood, measures 4 3/16". The overall length of the knife is 8 7/16", with a balance point directly between the front fingers. Embellishments include a 1/4 x 5/8 x 1 1/2" stainless steel guard, an escutcheon plate, and black (micarta?) and stainless steel spacers. The handle also has a diamond checked section towards the back for imcreased purchase. The knife is housed in a handmade leather sheath stamped "BUSTER'S KNIVES/RICHFIELD, UTAH" on the back.
Can anyone tell me what type of steel this might be? What did Buster use back then? Is the knife as old as I was told?
Here's a Herb Derr fighter I've recently added to my collection.
And here's a Stek fighterI bought last fall (I wore this as part of my Halloween costume
)
More pics and info of each on my website. I've got 7 more customs on order, so I'll be sure to post you on updates to the site when they come in.
Enjoy....
