If you put a good grind on them, most are great handle throwers. I built a set of 3 from yard sale knives, and i can stick them in pine board from 15 feet away.
 
Just a angle up the blade. so it came to a triangular point.
So instead of a rounded tip like they normally have i gave it a angled point.
