Cabela's Hawks?

Does anyone have any experience with the hawks that Cabela's sells? Any idea who makes them?

I saw one of these today in the West Virginia Cabelas. It is rough and rustic looking. Seemed to have a good weld where it is brought around to make the eye.

The eye is a large teardrop and the haft is round so it doesn't have much wood to metal contact. A person handy with wood working could make a new haft.

I may get it on the way home. At that price it is a good project.

these were the first hawks i started throwing. they were cheap. handles were cheap. and they've held up for 6 years. definitely recommend to new throwers beacuse of the cost and the weight is just right.

I have one, the stock edge is too thick in my opinion, the eye is also pretty rough, and the handles seem too narrow towards the top so the eye goes right to the end of the handle. But they are tough! A bit of a soft HT but you want that in a hawk usually. I like mine, did some filework and reprofiled the eye and edge.

They're a good buy, but might need some touching up to get them in prime shape.

Had hoped to buy some at the Hamburg PA store but they were all out when I was in the area. Will look again next time I'm in the area.

Kissing Krane Brown mule. Really wanted the wood handle, has a nice carbon steel blade, steel pin through the brass rivet too, but the fit and finish on them is a bit unfortunate for anything other than a working knife.
