Theres some that say that cable damascus isn't real damascus, but when you do all your forge welding with a hand hammer, you sure do get tired before its done. :D
This blade was made from a 1 1/4" cable and about 3 hrs. of welding and forging, the guard and butt cap are from the same welded bar.
What do you all think? is cable classified as damascus or not.

Great looking knife Bill, the horn sure looks pretty. What is the overall and blade length? Now as far as to whether it is damascus or not I'll leave that to you makers to hash out.

Great job Bill! looks awesome dude, i too like the horn handles... the whole package looks very nice:)

Bill you just keep getin better an better!!
Show off. I like it, hell I like everthing
that you have done ;)

What a great looking knife, Bill. That is my favorite of yours so far. I don't care if it is thought of as damascus or not. I love cable and this cable looks as good as any I have seen.

What kind of horn did you use for the handle?

Thanks guys for all the nice compliments.

stumpy- OAL 9 3/4" W/4 3/4" blade.

KWM - stabilized buffalo horn

Jerry- yes, it is 1 of the cylinders.

Got another one almost finished, I'll post a pic of it in a day or 2.
I'm still curious if most classify, welded cable as damascus or not, hopefully more will give their opinions on the matter.

thanks again :)

Beautiful knife, Bill! I don't forge steel, don't really care what anyone else says, but I'd call that damascus. I am kinda curious why it wouldn't be. I'm also partial to damascus that doesn't have too many layers and I think you got it just right.

Well if I had read the title of this thread a little better I guess I wouldn't have had to ask that question. At least I learned that it was stabilized.

Great looking knife Bill.., thanks for the picture...
