Darn, that's a beautiful one!

BTW, you've probably been asked this before (maybe by me:o), but how do all the various steels stack up for use in straight razors? I'm especially interested in how the "good old" carbon steels that were commonly used compare to 3V.

Butch you alright? Hope his shave went well. Not sure I would put that razor to my throat after watching Sweeney Todd:eek:

i had not had it honed up in time to test shave it last saterday so i will give it a shot this weekend (maybe )
it now has a spyderco ultra fine edge thats been stropped and is ready to go

Nice Looking Razor there my friend. You have some green G-10 coming from Byron, it went out today. Looking forward to seeing some blades in it.

That is an exceptionally nice looking razor.

I have a bunch of vintage ones that I have accumulated over the years but I would not attempt shaving with one!

I'm not into razor's, Butch, but I always return to your handcrafted pieces
as I find an unexplainable visual attraction to their designs....

Are your razors custom orders to be used on a daily basis, or do they in most
cases go to collectors?

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)

Not a criticism - just curious - why a ¼" spine?

Looks awesome with really precise workmanship - how heavy is it and how does it feel in the hand (and on face)?

normaly i use 3.6 but on a blade thats all but an inch tall i think i can get away witht eh slightly thicker spine

it honed up nicely and will shave so the angles are not off

also i had just the right size chunk of steel to make the blades with. the balance is scale heavy but works . (i ll have to get a gram weight for you on the over all for the razor

so far as if these are show razors or users i dont know for sure but i have sold like 6 (have to look at the log) 7/8 size or bigger razors and that i know of they all get used. im just not sure how often.

Nice work !
Your razor looks like one of my folders made by Sacha Thiel (France) :

That would be a nice set isn't it ?
