It is true that they were made as a 1200 piece "Sprint Run". There was no plan, and certainly is no guarantee, any more will be made. However, I would not completely rule it out either. Spyderco originally intended to produce only 1200 of the grey version in VG-10, but went on to run a second (and pehaps a third) batch. So, I would guess a second batch of ZDP-189 Calypso Jrs would depend on several things.
First, the availability of sufficient ZDP-189 for another batch. Am not sure why the ZDP-189 Delicas were delayed, and the compsition of the blade changed from laminated to solid, but material availability is one possible explaination for that.
Second, whether the price-point they set on them yeilds enough profit to make producing another batch worthwhile. Spyderco may have been looking at them more as an R&D tool than a revenue source when setting the price.
Finally, timing may also become an issue. Another batch of ZDP-189 Calypso Jrs. might interfere with sales of the ZDP-189 Delica due out early next year.
Then again, unless someone at Spyderco has confirmed it, I am not 100% sure the entire 1200 piece run has been sold out. Seem to recall reading things in the past that lead me to believe that, while Spyderco has to commit to take 1200 pieces from the manufacturer, the entire 1200 piece "run" is not always delivered as a single "batch", but rather they may come, say in three batches of 400 each, or two of 600 each. So perhaps it is only the first batch that sold out and there are more to come.
