Was this just replaced by the rolling-lock, or are there still plans to bring it to production?

I like my women like I like my knives: strong, sharp, well-formed and pattern-welded!

Aaron - Not sure of what you mean by a "cam lock". Can you provide more detail?

As I remember it was a rather complicated design of a few years back. I think it relied on a 's' shaoed piece of metal at the pivot to engage or disengage the lock. There was then a switch-type contron on the spine, I think. I'm pretty sure it was patented, if that helps.

Aaron - this is not "ringing any bells". Did Spyderco show this lock somwhere?

I don't remember where I heard about it, but I found a copy of the patent here: <a href="http://www.patents.ibm.com/cgi-bin/viewpat.cmd/US05615484__">patent</a>

Aaron - OK, now I'm with you. We refer to this lock as the "Pittman" lock. It was invented by Leon Pittman several years ago.

We were interested in producing a knife with this lock but didn't want to unless we could protect it. Leon agreed that we apply for patents, which we did.

We received a patent on the lock a short time ago. We are currently planning to produce a model with this lock sometime next year. We're still deciding on a design.

We also have 3 other locks in development (in addition to the Rolling Lock and Pittman lock). sorry for the confusion.
