Camillus CQB 1...

I hate to ask things that have been asked before... but thats probably what I'm doing anyway (:o) so here goes...

I'm interested in getting a good sized fixed blade for concealed carry, IWB most likely.
The Camillus CQB 1, with its not quite 6 inch blade, and factory IWB ready sheath, seems a natural choice.
I already like its looks, and the ONE time I handled one, for a few minutes, at a gun show, I liked how it felt.

I do have a couple questions tho...
How secure is the handle?, it looks like it would naturally be a good thruster, but it also doesnt appear to have much in the way of guard, as the finger groove doesnt appear to be that deep, and in a thrust I wouldnt want my hand slipping up onto the steel...

And, is the back edge sharpenable? I doubt I would do this, since its a no-no around here (selective interpretation of state knife law, could make butter knives a no no, tho), but I'm just a little curious.

Any other experiances/problems/satisfaction people woul dlike to relate, would be appreciated.
Thanks! :)

I've always wanted a CQB-1 but could never bring myself to drop the $120(!) for it, however my prayers were answered when Camillus announced the Black Ops CQB-1, only $60 and it's 0170-6C which I easily prefer in terms of cutting performance.
I can't tell you a thing about security of the grip, having never actually handled one, sorry.
The false edge IS sharpenable, if you feel like making yourself into a criminal, go on if it makes you happy, but I don't recommend it.

Well... without trying to spawn debate, I am a firm believer in better judged by 12 than carried by 6. And do train for back-cutting. and I have carried double edges blades, altho I wasnt planning to if I got a CQB, I was simply curious.

Is the Black Ops CQB out yet? Paying $120 for a knife, not a huge deal to me, my EDC was more than that, but it just takes me awhile to save up that money on the budget of a high-school senior, so cheaper is better, and I really would like to get one with a black finish... altho, I dunno what black coating is being used/how durable it is?

Satin,

I didn't mean to come off as bitter as I sounded, I clearly understand that a double edge works better than a single and that being convicted of a weapons misdeameanor is better than being dead.
I'm not sure the Black Ops CQB-1 would be right for you, because of slight differences in length and profile it doesn't come with the wowie zowie tek-lock & IWB looped kydex sheath, but instead comes with a Propex sheath with kydex insert very similar to that included with a Becker Knife & Tool Combat/Utility 7, for my purposes this is actually a BETTER sheath, for yours, it most likely isn't. Not only that, but it's not out yet either :(

satin,

I have both the CQB-1, and the smaller CQB-2, and they are both EXCELLENT knives! Do yourself a BIG favor, and get yourself a CQB-1, and don't worry about it slipping in your hand. With a good grip, it won't slip.

BTW..I MIGHT be interested in selling my CQB-1, as I'm getting a Gryphon M30A1 pretty soon. (This is a slightly larger, slightly different version of the CQB-1). Email me if interested in purchase from me.:).
