Anybody know anything about these, single blade/serrated on top with yellow scales, hook remover at the bottom.
1) what years did Camillus produce these?
2) Also instead of the usual hook remover stamp on the bolster it says disgorger? Unlike others i have seen this one doesnt appear to have the shamrock on the scale, is this common? Was the shamrock a special mark?

i'll post picts when i get the knife. Got it for like 14 bucks, just liked the look of it.
Anybody got any info?
Thanks all.

It was called a number 5 . It had yellow covers made of celluloid. after a long time the covers shrink. The hook remover was part of the bolster. The blades in the #5 was pickled in acid. The blade was a 15 gage steel. Some of them had a can opener on the tang of the blade all so.
I worked at Camillus for 38 years as a cuter so I did see a lot of them.
Good luck that is a nice knife.

Thanks, cant wait to get my hands on it. Love my camillus knives that i have, damn shame that they have closed their doors.
38 years!!! Now thats impressive, i'll bet you've got stories. I know my dad does he recently retired from Ford, 41 years... a mighty long time.
Thanks so much for your help on this.
Take care

Model #5 with "Fisherman's Luck" stamped on the handle was introduced in 1948.
Tom Liggett has a wealth of info on Camillus knives. Thank you for sharing your knowledge on BF. When I needed a knife repaired Tom always took care of it.

When i get the knife i'll post picts, any idea how long they produced this knife? Must have been a fairly popular model. I watched a similar knife go a week or so before and that seller claimed it was a '61.
Thanks for everything guys

Camco can you remember where the shamrocks are I forgot.
IVANKERLEY I think you got a good knife for 17 bucks. Put a little oil on the blade tang and it should work fine for you.:) Happy I could help. Camco knows a lot about any knife we ever made. He is a good man.

Maybe a clover? Kastor (Camillus) used the Cloverbrand mark for many years.

First used circa 1913 acording to John Goins, on the W.H. Morely & Sons knives imported from Germany, Austria and Czcoslovakia. Later it was used as a branding by itself on knives made in Camillus New York. Last use? I haven't a clue.

thanks, i think my wife thinks im crazy, all excited over an old pitted and worn knife, i just tell her it has lots of character! The scales are in pretty good shape pulled away from the bolsters a little but not too bad, when did camilus quit using celluloid for the grips? I thought most manufacturers all but stopped using the stuff in the 40-50's, because of the rampant problems with the stuff?? Maybe im mistaken...

hi, when i first started collecting fish knives i had one of these but it had the shamrock, anyway, it was in 'new'conddition but started rusting,id clean it up and a week later it would be rusting again, this went on for quite awhile until i got fed up with the knife and got rid of it,now im looking for another to add to my collection but their hard to find in great condion, plus i need the 2 blade one also.Always wondered why this knife would do that, maybe the handles?i think they were celluloid, thanks

you are correct, probably the handles, Bomb ready Celluloid, beautiful but nasty, highly flammable stuff, ive read/heard to keep them out in the open and out of sunlight, apparently they all gas-out eventually, i'll cross that bridge when i get to it!

They have a 2 blade #5 as i type this on ebay

The two bladed Fish knife is a # 25 I think. It has a blade and a hook remover on the second blade and a fish scaler. And I think that it has a hook sharpener on the mark side cover.

The model #5 fish knife was a single blade and the model #25 had two blades. Sometime during the 1960's or 1970's the handles had a sharpening stone for hooks added to the handle. The fish knives were a #5369 pattern.
The fish knives with "Fisherman's Luck" stamped on the handle were made before I started working at Camillus in 1974. The old hot stamping machine that was used on these knives was still at Camillus when the company closed. It was in a large box in the supply room next to the shipping room.
Camillus also made a two blade fish knife for the India Stag line which was a model #31.
We always called this pattern a fish knife at Camillus while it is commonly known as a Texas Toothpick. I never heard the term Texas Toothpick used at Camillus until we made this pattern for Remington and then the model in the Camillus Classic Cartridge series.

You guys are great! Anybody know why mine says disgorger on the bottom bolster and is missing the lucky clover? All the examples ive seen have the clover, just seemed odd to me that this didnt.
thanks
ivan

IVANKERLEY,
You have a later version of the fish knife. The handle hot stamping was discontinued.
