Anyone out there ever get their blades camo dipped? I am thinking of getting it done to the blade and handle to protect the steel. I was just wondering how this would work as far as protecting the steel, plus I think it would look cool.

Thanks

I would ask the company you intend to have your knife dipped, if theres any heat involved, or if it could ruin the temper in any way. As long as you don't ruin the original heat treatment and temper of the blade, you should be all good. After having it dipped, I would take it to be sharpened buy a professional bladesmith, who could put a real nice edge on it, without disturbing the brand new camo at all, an EdgePro with painters masking tape could work very well for this. They key is that the dipping doesn't get too hot and ruin the heat treatment or temper of the steel...

There is no camo "dip" to my knowledge.
You could paint the blade, but it will come off.

Yes, Hard H20 is exactly right on the money, and the color you wish is very very durable, its what would mostly be found on archery products that we see today, now starting to see it move towards the automotive industry the demand issue for knives just hasn't hit , basically not enough money yet, so you'll have to send it in if you want it done.

As far as I can tell, there would be no heat involved to ruin the temper...

sorry i forgot to mention that, no heat is not an issue., its a water bath with a film and a chemical. pretty neat to see it done.
