Hi Folks
A buddy of mine brought me a bunch of old knives from P.E.I. and in the bunch was a rusted forged broken something, maybe a Froe. It has a five inch tang and the steel is amazing. It has a big convex running to the centre of the blade and is sharp as a razor. I think it will make a great hunting ax/cleaver and has a nice curve for skinning. The handle is the head end of a hawk haft with a copper wire and solder ferule. The sheath is about 11oz veggi with an 8oz hanger.

Regards

Robin

Oh i forgot your that i really am one, hope you did well at the show and that is a dandy snag, may have ta forge me one like that

Those kindling axe style battoning knives seem really practical when working wood, especially for making rustic furniture and other carving needs. I have to pull the trigger on the Knife Center Swiss kindling axe, looks like a very handy tool.

Very nice. The sheath reminds me of a beaver tail.

Loosearrow, funny you should mention the Beaver tail look. A friend of mine is a trapper up here in the wilds and asked me to make a round tip skinner that was very flexy. The blade is the tip of a 19th century Henckels ham knife and it is sooooo sharp that it scares me. Anyway, since it was to be a Beaver skinner I thought it should have a Beaver tail sheath. So here it is. ;)

Best regards

Robin

I like it, I like it. Very nice. Like the deer leg bone as well. Nice work.

I love deer bone handles, they fit your hand and look very funky (for the "mountain man " crew ;-)
Unfortunately, my friend the trapper is not well and gave up his trap line so now i have the best skiving knife i've ever used. Just have to remember not to slip and nail myself cause this thing is scary sharp.

Regards

Robin
