Hello All,
I have recently ordered and I am scheduled to receive a New Hiker from John. My thought for a great camping/ general woods combo would be to add a larger knife that could substitute for small axe/hatchet. Any thoughts on the Camper VS the Hudson Bay? I love the way the Hudson Bay looks! Actually I love the way all the knives on this forum looks!
Thanks
Dan

A JK Knatchet would make a great companion.;)

The Hudson Bay is made from 2" tall stock, with more weight forward, while the Camp is made from 1 1/2" tall stock, much lighter weight. The Hudson Bay wins hands down as a chopper between the two.

Dan, the HB is a beast. Decent chopper (wear gloves) and a good big kitchen knife. I don't use mine as much outdoors as my Lobo, it's just so.....hefty! If you like the look of it, check out the Lobo. My 2 cents.

If you want to try it, I could send you my HB for a while to play with....you can't hurt it, I've tried! Send me an email if interested and in the US.

Thanks Rockywolf, an amazing offer! How does the Lobo work as a large outdoor Knife? I try to take care of my tools, but if I want to chop something, baton it etc, I don't want to worry about it. The LOBO does have a very competent look about it!

Thanks
Dan

It works very well. I grab it as my bigger knife for outdoors stuff. I have batonned frozen wood with it, rough carved spoons, TRIED to make a figure 4 trap (operator error-knife did well), used it for food prep, it is a great all arounder.

There is one more alternative, design your own chopper! I enjoy making customer designs.

I`m actually in the middle of making a Lobo and modified handle Camp Knife right now. I`ll post side by side photos next week.
