Can you customize a K5 Tomahawk...?

I just received a K5 Tactical Hawk - let's be honest, this isn't a stealthy, one-handed cutting instrument...it's a instrument of mass destruction...walls, doors...a king-kong breaching hawk, to be sure.

Does anyone have any experience with customizing these big boys? Maybe stripping the (now tan) paint....doing a camo paint job...and getting the edges honed so they'll have a better cutting application...???

Let me know - if you know anybody that customizes hawks, please pass their name along....

THANKS!!!

...thanks Niko - I've emailed them with some questions....

Anybody else have any ideas...???? Seems to me I read about "camo paint" that comes right out of a can...?

Venice will I just bought one I am going to strip it and get it parkerized. Problem with paint is it will always come off. The park will also but it is tougher

I'm not sure it'll be a user yet - may end up on a wall :D to scare the beegeebers outta unwanted 2-legged varmits!

Who's doing the parkizing? and how much $$ will it run ya'?

Any plans for the edges....? They're not in "cutting form" - but I'm not sure what to use to bring the face, beard and spike edges up to cutting speed...

Ideas are welcome -

Gratzi'

Parkerizing will not come off. It is a chemical reaction on the surface of the steel. it can be worn through but that is difficult. I have a parkerized hawk that has seen some serious use and shows no wear on the parkerized area. It also makes a great substrate for paint. FWIW, parkerizing is done to create a rust resistant finish on guns. The finish holds oil well. If you want to paint the hawk get it parkerized first it will hold the paint much better than just the bare metal. I would think you could find someone to do it for $50.00 or so. Or you could do it yourself. It is easy. The chemicals will cost you about $35 from Midway or Brownells.
