Hello. I wonder if someone could help identify an old kitchen knife I bought at an estate sale. It was in bad shape, but I restored it. It's overall length is 12 inches -- the handle is five inches and the blade is seven inches. The blade is high carbon steel, and it is a butcher knife carving-style blade with a clipped tip. The handle is walnut with three brass rivets. There is an aluminum finger guard. There are no markings anywhere on the blade or wooden handle or aluminum finger guard. I see what might possibly be a tiny "7" stamped into the blade about an inch and a quarter from the finger guard. However, I'm not entirely certain this is a stamped "7" or if it is just some pitting that happened to be shaped like a seven. I think it's probably pitting because its position is rather odd for any idenification stamping.

If I could figure out how to post a photo on this site, I would do so.

If anyone knows anything about the manufacturer or the age of this knife, I would appreciate the info.
