I just purchased a Benchmade 707 Sequel and am looking for recommendations for keeping up the edge and general maintenance needed if any. This knife is a little more advanced than the pocket knives I've sharpening on my whetstone. Thanks.

It will sharpen up just fine on your whetstone. If you want a little more edge joy, you might consider a Spyderco Sharpmaker. Easy to use and produces a good edge.

As to the lube for the pivot, there are many personal factors that weigh in on that decision. Militec 1, Remoil and such are all popular. Militec 1 is probably the slickest. I produce a lot of lint in my pockets so I prefer a dry lube called Tuf-Glide. The same peole who make that produce a cloth impregnated with Tuf Glide for keeping the blades nice. I use that too.

As stated you can still sharpen freehand but the Sharpmaker and Edgepro systems are very good as well, I use both of them.

As for caring for the knife, I got a Case knife care kit which has just about everything you'd need for keeping your knife looking and working well. Tuff-Glide lubricant and impregnated cloth, dry polishing cloth, and a bunch of other stuff. Works for me.
