Carnivore Problem

I have had my Carnivore since March of this year. Shortly after I received it the blade stop pin began to rattle. I read in the Forums where others had experienced the same problem and solved it with a dab of silicone caulk. I too remedied my rattle in this manner. However, now I am experiencing some vertical blade play. It appears to be due to some play in the blade stop pin. It does not rattle but I can move it with a paper clip. Depending on where the pin rests in its little holes, the blade has verticle blade play.

Do you folks see this as a super glue fix or should I contact REKAT and perhaps get a properly sized blade stop pin. While I could tolerate the rattle if I had to, I cannot abide a loose blade on a knife that costs as much as this one did.

Thanks in advance for any advice you can give me.

99% of the knives we repair that devlouped lateral blade play is due to the customer repeatable snapping them. Especially those who release the lock and snap them out. On inspection those knives have elongation of the holes in the liners around the stop pin. The liner material has a 175 lbs-psi strength but everything has its limits. We do not warranty this. This we consider undue abuse. Under normal use this will not happen!
I have stated a number of times this while being a tons of fun this practice does damage the knife. Sort of like popping a clutch it won’t last long.

Hi Bob,

Thank you for responding to my inquiry. I doubt if this knife has been abused. I rarely snap it open forcefully and I never open the knife while holding the release button open. Having said this however, if I have unknowingly abused the knife, I will gladly pay to have it repaired. If I send it to you, will you fix it for me?
