Carry Options?

Hi all, I'm new around here, but I'm quickly becoming obsessed with these RAT knives. I'm saving up all my quarters for an RC-4 (I'm in college so the knife fund is low). My question is, how are you guys carrying these knives. I know the kydex sheaths are the cat's meow and have lots of carry options, but none of them really seem to fit my needs. I'm leanign heavily towards a leather Sharp Shooter's sheath from KSF, as I will be belt carrying it. Any opinions?

I carry my RC-3 inside my belt with the belt clip on the outside. I wear a 1 3/4" Wilderness Instructor belt and this system works fine. The knife rides high and close to the body with this setup, but that's how I prefer to carry a fixed blade for EDC.

The knife is great but the kydex sheath is what makes this knife excellent. By far the best kydex sheath I own. The Bark River Bravo-1 kydex sheath using a Tec-Lock holds second place, the Benchmade Snoody Resistor sheath ranks number three.

my RC4 has a piece of paracord tied to the MOLLE straps, i clip it to a carabiner and hang it on my bell

my RC3 has the molle back, I ise the molle to put my belt through, will buy a molle back for my RC4, it's the best carry method on your belt (veritcal carry)

I carry my RC-3 on my belt with the MOLLE back. Works pretty well. Would like to get one of the KSF sheaths, but they don't have them in lefty last I checked.

EDIT: Just checked and they now have lefty sheaths. Will probably pick one up eventually, I think they look pretty sharp.

I like the kydex that comes with the RC-4. It was designed for maximum versatility so there will be compromises if you prefer only a single carry mode. The majority of the time I use the included paracord threaded through the holes on the enclosed sheath to form belt loops. Why this tends to work so well is that it gives you belt loops without adding any real bulk that a clip or tecklock does. This makes switching carrying modes quite easy, for example, changing from belt carry to stowing in a large pocket has little or no consequence on bulk for pocket carry.

One of the unique things about the rat cutlery sheaths are that the molding surroundes the knife about .5" on both sides of the blade. It is really handy to be able to use your thumb to push off the edge of the sheath on the back side of the blade to pop the knife out of its secure fit. This works better than the tipical tiny lip sometimes included in aftermarket custom sheaths.

I am going to put in an order for a molle-back so I can try that mode of carry as well. The fact that the same molle-back works with both RC-3 and RC-4 is a real bonus. I do agree that the kydex with paracord belt loops tends to ride a bit higher than I like, but again this is a good compromise when considering other carry options.

On the other hand, the custom leather sheaths that KSF offers are real beauts. If you are a diehard leather sheath guy, then that sheath combo is a heck of an offer.

I carry mine vertical everyday with the paracord and cordlock that came with
it.several wilderness trips,everyday as a electrican
