Looks sweet, might buy one, but how's the QC on them? I heard a rumor that some of them are coming out with some pretty sorry lockup...

To those who've handled both the CF and SS versions, what do you think? which do you prefer?

I've had my CF Police (#264) for 2 1/2 weeks. The lockup is rock solid, closing with a loud snap. The is no side-to-side blade play. I can feel a SMALL amount of vertical play but it is too little to be able to see - the same or better than most of my other Spyderco lockbacks.

Sorry I can't compare it with the SS version but it is a great looking knife with great fit and finish. It has no quality control issues that I can identify. The CF has a smooth shiny finish which looks great and has real "depth" to it. It might be somewhat slippery if wet.

Hope this helps!

Hmm, cool

I'm farmiliar with the almost imperceptible blade in Spyderco lockbacks (as experienced with my Endura, Chinook, and Native) and it is minor enough to live within my perhaps-too-high-standard of "acceptable" :)

Anywho... if the money rolls around, I may seriously consider one.

The ones I bought have great lock up and the ones I have seen go through the store have also. Compared to the SS models they actually feel stouter IMO.

I own a SS handle in SE and a CF handle in PE. Both are rock solid with no play while locked open. Couldn't really say which is more solid but the CF has a nicer action since it's adjustable.

Both of my CF police lock up sound and sturdy.

Like NGK said, they feel stouter than the SS. (judging by my SS Endura)

They are really cool blades.

Have both the PE and the SE. I've had the G10 and the stainless versions, but the CF is definately a keeper. Blade lockup is solid on both, But I prefer the PE as its easier for me to sharpen.
