As I said earlier I have not been this excited about a new deal in knives for some time. This is no exception. These frame locks excite me! What can I say.

Anyway, I'm going to have two more BUSSTR's coming up in short order behind this one only they will be the last two in the first run of liner locks. For now since these frame locks go together so much faster with no scales to fuss with I will show this one.

Stay tuned for the others. This one is sold to SenoBDEC. He is getting one of these other two coming up as well, and Mapper66 so you guys can expect to hear from me here in a bit. ;)

While you're waiting on your knives you can look at this one here.
My wife thinks this one here is the nicest one so far. 3.5 ounces final weight. Clip drilled and tapped for tip up or down carry right hand, and sporting one of Christof Haper's (Koyote) super tough 15N20 scandi grind blades.

As much as I like and carry my "regular" BUSSTR, I thinking hard about one of those.

Could you please pm me some numbers?

PM sent my friend.

Thanks for asking.

Got both this one and my other BUSSTR w/ KOYOTE blade... very sweet.
Blade is nice and sharp, thin, handles are a bit longer than absolutely necessary for control and of course the locks engage perfectly :D.

The Chameleon is one sweet gent's folder - more than enough blade and handle for utility but very slim, light, and fits well in your pocket. Plus it's quite the looker - the jeweling and the anodizing really give it a cool look.

The regular BUSSTR is a different beast, 1/3 thicker, a touch heavier, and still a great knife.

I like the low-profile clip - doesn't ride too high, very slim but secure, and most of all, is hardly noticeable when actually using the knife, unlike 99% of other pocket clip folders I've handled (including the sebenza).

I think there is only one possible improvement - make the blades, or rather, the edges longer. Bring the edge almost up to the handle, so you can, if necessary, better control the edge with a fair amount of force (much like the style of Koyote fixed blades). There seems to be a fair amount of leeway here, at least 5-6 mm.

Action on both smoothed up within about 50 openings (which takes me 'bout a minute ;)). By the way, any chance of an opening hole ;)?

I can safely say that both of these will become EDC folders - they're just too good NOT to be.

Edit: I've now used it as a sole knife for a full round of food prep, from prepping and slicing meat for stirfry, to chopping vegetables/fruit both hard and soft. Works well, no edge damage, still shaving, but got it popping after a few strokes on an ultrafine ceramic.

Glad you got them safe and sound. Thanks for the comments. I'm glad you'll use them. I've found mine to be hard to put down personally and use it for everything from kitchen duties to whittling on the deck.
By the way. One of the things I always ran into with folding knives was that I often times found a blade I just loved but then found after buying it on the net that although the blade was great the handle was just too short for my hands. Often times to find a handle that fit me well I had to get a blade longer than what I actually liked to carry. Then knives like the Para Military came along followed by others such as the DODO and then the CQC14 and in between all these I started making a short lived model called the Rice Beater a few folks managed to buy that also followed the 'larger handle smaller blade concept' for guys like me that had bigger hands or just liked more handle but wanted smaller blades with a folder body that fit their needs better. As a result the BUSSTR had that incorporated into it also where on average the handle is 1.5" longer than the blade. This is approx. 1/2" longer than it needs to be of course but its for a reason. I thought it was still pretty well balanced looking compared to some that are being sold that look kind of off. Anyway, thats why the handle is slightly longer for the blade length.

Hi STR, I don't mind the handle being longer than the blade, just that there could definitely be a bit more edge - but I've been finding my Military a bit too small all the time recently :). It works, and it cuts very well, splits apples like no tomorrow.

either way, a definite winner. Hope to hear more from this project as it develops, perhaps upgrades in thumbstuds, jimping,
chamfered liners? :D

Edit: also with apples - my first patina on the blade - sweet :D.
