The frame lock slabs I ordered along with a new shipment of some other goodies from my friend Dave at Great Lakes Waterjet Inc. came while I was in a bit of a wait period for some supplies for other projects so I took advantage of it to see what I could come up with during the break in work. Here are some teaser pics of what the future may bring. :D

You can't tell looking at this but its a rainbow of color as you turn it in sunlight. The base color under it all is a gold anodized color scheme inside and out. Then I lightly sanded down the knurls and began playing a bit with various colors. There are brown, mauve, green, blue green, light blue, dark blue, and brown plus khaki colors all through the knurls but unfortunately my camera barely picked up what the naked eye sees so you'll have to look close but it is there in some shots. Blade is Bos heat treated ATS34 at 61 Rockwell. I could call it a SOD BUSSTR but somehow I think thats already being used even if I do spell it differently. ;)

I was a bit concerned showing this because I don't want anyone mad waiting on work but I was out of pocket clip titanium and waiting on that, out of micarta I needed and did what I could without that and could not continue further and still waiting on other things to get back from Dave for other jobs that was supposed to be in the shipment but that he forgot and is doing for me now so when this arrived I figured well, no time like the present. Anyway, here it is. This is whats riding in my pocket currently.

Let me know what you think. More in my blog on it.

Thanks. I like it a lot too. Its the first time I've seen the textured surface in person that Dave came up with and is creating with his Waterjet. I must say the pictures of what he is doing don't do it justice for how it actually is in person and in the hand which is just enough to add a tacky bit of grip but not so aggressive it would tear up a pocket or anything else. Its better than I ever imagined and I plan to use it more on future models. I figure eventually I'll have some of these cut out in the Ouparator model but it will be a while considering I have so many frames Dave has cut out for me already that I need to use up first.

I plan to play with the anodizing some more also. Thumbs up to Dave for inventing this textured surface which he calls "Tac Ti." The Wave pattern shown here really sits well on this folder design IMO.

those look super cool!

I am so tempted to ask...

SWEET! I'm getting one of each, guys, one Chameleon BUSSTR, one standard linerlock BUSSTR.

Steve, thats amazing! I really enjoy creating new stuff and then seeing it finished. I think the line is forming!

Thanks. I really enjoy using it! I have not been this excited about a new folder model before and I am really liking this BUSSTR model. Not to take away attention from the other thread because I certainly am working on those and will be done the last two in that first run here shortly. Been working on three at once. I have two blades to finish contacts on and then basically assemble them and test them out.

Its been nice having a slab handle folder with texture. Thats always been one of my issues with slab handles even though I loved the slabs best of all. With the texturing or Tac Ti as you call it Dave, its a win win situation and I expect you to be hit pretty hard with orders once you show what you have planned at Blade. Its one of those wonderful creations of modern machinery but it is a great idea and I'm proud to know the guy that came up with it let alone be fortunate enough to be working with him some on it!
