I like my clips tip-up on my folders just I'm sure there are many who prefer tip-down :barf: Anyway, has anybody experimented with tapping new holes in the opposite end of said knife (where possible) to move the clip to the favorite position. Example: I'd like to have one of the new VG-10 steel handled Spyderco Police models, but it comes tip down only. If I could tap three new holes on the other end to match the holes in the clip, the I'd have a tip up Police. This could be done for a variety of knives, but obviously it wouldn't work on all folders. Anyway, has anyone done this before? If so, how do you get started, what tools did you use, etc.

I've no experience but VG-10 steel handle? That looks like it's going to be a bit troublesome
I've heard that others have try to put holes and matching threads on the side they desire, and i'm sure they're around....

I have had a couple of mine remounted by local gunsmiths. The problem is that most people don't have taps small enough for the clip screws. I will be sending a Mini-AFCK and a Harpy to have this done soon.

While not exactly the same, I had the Machinist Technology instructor at the college that I'm a Supervisor at, drill and tap into the other side of one of my REKAT Sifus in-order to "convert" it to a "Lefty" folder, and it worked-out very well.:).

Contact the service/warranty/repair department of the company whose knife you own. Ask them what the specs are on their screws/holes. One place you can get tools from is www.hobbylinc.com - look under the drill bit and tap/die sections under hand tools. (this is all assuming your knife company will not do it for you)
