Cheap DIY Project

While the blades were tempering this morning, I decided to do a little project. I had one of those $1.99 LED flashlights that stopped working, so I made a matchsafe out of it. The end with the bulbs is just pressed in, so I used a rod from the inside to punch it out. Then I used a piece of broom handle and glued it in place for the bottom. Inside it holds 1 Coghlan fire lighter, 20 small strike anywhere matches, and a piece of match striker. Cheap and easy (just like me!) :D

You're a resourceful guy Jk. Now some of my dinky flashlights that preceded my more expensive ones won't go forgotten. Thanks for the tip!

Cool. I have one of those that went kaput. Now I know what to do with it. Clever.

Oh sure, now you put this thread up,I just threw one of those freebie flashlights away last weekend.(got it from the NRA)

I do have another idea for a container though.
Shotgun shells.
Cut one down to the base, then heat it up & when the plastic starts to melt you should be able to pull it out with a stick or needle nose pliers. Then it'll slip over the end of a hull with the crimped section trimmed off.
Not water proof, but handy just the same & you can make it as long as you want.
I have a few of different lengths that my brother & I made while camping.
You want to do the heating/melting of the plastic outdoors because of the fumes of course.

Nice Job John! Those things sure aren't any good for anything else! I throw more of them away than you can shake a stick at! If they actually light up for more than a few days, I'm surprised! Maybe that's what those little Chinamen are doing, trying to fill up all of our landfills! They are surely making all kinds of junk to fill them with! Ha! Ha!
