The cassam tactical hawk has landed! wow john I can't believe I didn't order sooner. top notch work! now I am REALLY excited for august and my kephart. the handle is walnut that I purposely asked to have left unfinished so I can stain and tung oil it myself. that is in process as we speak. this will be my go to chopper. I can't wait to get out and hack up some limbs! enjoy. I know I will

I'm thinking a vinegar paper towel patina would give the dark stain a nice accent. I don't think ill do my custom antique etch on this tho

Hey clich, if you patina the blade let me know a decent way to do it (if you do something cool or different like some of your other stuff). I wouldn't mind trying my hand at some "artful patina-ing"! Thanks!
 
That is one substantial piece! Looks like it will be real comfortable to use, though.

So after a light stain I decided I liked the lighter color better, go figure. so I lightly sanded it back to its original color and I'm just going to low gloss oil it. pics tomorrow
