I have to say I agree with Mike. Had Spark not jumped the gun with his email to me telling me that the Custom/Collector rooms were being combined. None of this would have ever happened.

So it is time to get back to knives.

I did tell Mike that I wanted to stay on as the only Moderator.

Perhaps I am mistaken, but I feel the moderator of this room, should deal solely in custom knives.

I know Gus and he is a great knife person and he will add additional insight to some of the "art" knives.

Larry, is the owner of KnifeArt.com. As a dealer he is the "new kid on the block". But he is certainly teaching us all about web sites.

I can't say anything about Howard, because I don't know who he is.

I would like to see each of the moderator's introduce themselves and give their background. Perhaps this way specific questions can go to each moderator.

I must say I have been overwhelmed with the number of emails and phone calls asking me to continue on as moderator.

Because of this, if the offer is still open from Mike, I would like to return as a moderator.

Mike, should you choose to do this, I will hold you to the other part of our bargain.

I thought I was wrong once, but I was mistaken.

Goes double for me. Let's do it. We are much better off with you here Les.

My name is not too hard to guess so I'll add a little of my knife background. Hard to be from Chattanooga TN originally and not have some exposure to knives. I developed a taste for customs after attending the Blade show which used to be held in Knoxville TN. My dad has collected since the end of WW II, and has had a great influence on my taste in the field. As both of us have aged a little (I’m 44) we have gotten into knives as an art form - my dad is the artist not me. At the same time, the direction that my collection has taken does not mean that I stopped appreciating or owning well made knives. There are some friends out there that might be shocked but the last custom I ordered was a La Griff from Fred

(just got it a couple of weeks ago) I have been known to read (and try to read when it comes to other languages) anything I can get my hands on as far as cutlery is concerned. (To the point where there are 3 or 4 makers who ask me to find books for them).

I set up at shows now and then pretty much specializing in customs and (the only time I will use the term in this forum) finer factory knives.

Over the years (12 or so for Customs, more for those other kinds of knives ), I have been lucky to make friends in the field and some of those friendships have become close. They are what I cherish most as far as my hobby goes. I am looking forward to making even more friends, learning more, sharing my opinions, and what knowledge might have sunk in.

Les,

Again a classy way for all concerned to put to rest the issue. Glad to see you still aboard.

Les;
That is great news ! Every one can put away their tape measures, and call it a draw. All Bowies measured were the same length, but by different makers.

Usually add a few hours to each of those before and after. We're not limited to shows.

Will do Les. And I think you now know for sure there was no secret plot to get rid of you. Our emails back and forth were direct and to the point so I think you know I am a straight shooter by now. Let's get on with knives.

Happy that things are working out and Les is staying. Looking forward to learning more about customs, an area of growing interest for me. Thanks to all for getting it together.

Les,

Glad your still here! Now perhaps we can make this forum stronger, and get on with the business at hand. Sometimes the path gets a little rocky, but gets straighter in the process.

Take care,
John Johnson

I don't post on this forum often, I doubt any one gives a damn what I have to say anyway, but now that we've all kissed and made up, could we just get on with what I thought this forum was supposed to be about, knives, remember?? If I want character assassinations, I'll go to a Bruce Willis movie. If I want a soap opera, I'll watch daytime tv. If I want to pursue my interest in knives, I'll try another time or two to tune into this forum. Hopefully, it will be worth my time.

Hi Bud,

Of course we care what you think, as far as you know.

As all of us know improvement only comes through hard work, dedication and sometimes some "irritation".

Glad to see your still with us Skate.
