Recently I picked up a Durba 18" WWII w/ wood handles and a Kesar 16.5" chiruwa AK w/horn handles. At first I liked the WWII better. But the more I play with them, and do beginner level Silat and Escrima exercises, the more I prefer this AK. My Sanu 15" AK w/ carved wood grips and silver fittings has already been chosen by my five year old daughter; it's hers someday. My Bura 18" GS went to my close friend; and my Durba 18" AK went to my business partner. My WWII was intneded to, and will, go to another friend.
But...this chiruwa AK REALLY speaks to me. In short, it's a fantastic blade. My deep thanks go to Uncle Bill for sending me this blade. I can see how, even though it's primarily a survival knife and heavy chopper, that at it's most primitive level, this thing is an optimal battle blade. The compact weight this thing throws around is nothing short of amazing. It's a good workout for my wrists (I've got an old fracture in my right wrist, so I must build it up to no limit). Anyway, I feel like I have finally gotten totally touched by the magic. In fact, I can see collecting just chiruwa AKs. They are a breed unto themselves.
