Hi Forumites

I am waiting for a Bura AK chiruwa to arrive - what can I expect from this tank ?? feel, power, ability etc.

Thanks guys !!

My first HI Khuk was a Chiruwa AK. It's a chopper par excellence. Some complain that the full tang carries more shock and vibration to the hand. I haven't found that to be true. What I did find, was that the ring around the handle tended to cause blisters to my fingers. A little smoothing of the metal of the tang at the ring and wearing leather gloves solved the problem. You should love it!:)

I use my 16" Chiruwa for All my yard work. I had to use my dremel tool a little around the full tang at the "ring", but it was 5 minute fix. I always feel a full tang knife is stronger. It is a great tool/weapon.
All the best, Sam

No HI Khuk is just another knife, they are all special and different !!

Im looking forward to this workhorse

of helping you develop your sense of patience...and that all things will come in time.

Be a shame if the package was used as a test case for training Customs' Officers though, wouldn't it?

Repeat after me: oooOOOHHHHmmmmm, oooOOOHHHHmmmmm, oooOOOHHHHmmmm.

(It'll get there.):p

I think I hear someone at the cave door! Could be an AK!!

Ok, the teasing was all fun and games until THIS:p That really ISN'T funny:barf: :D

Seriously though it sounds like it'll be a nice small to mid sized chopper. I have a 15" chiruwa that weighs about 1lb 3oz IIRC, and it chops quite well for its size. The best part of it is that its Point Of Balance (P.O.B.) is closer to the handle than my other khuks and so it feels livelier in the hand--more of a an "all around" type khuk--weapon, tool, khuk.

Wood or Horn?
Or I guess I could ask "do you have a woody or are you a horndog" :footinmou :D

Brendan,

Just chase down that little brown truck and demand your package.

n2s :D

Well, what can I say. My chiruwa arrived today and it's my third Bura, what a knife. It ooozes power and skillful workmanship, it was a blem from Uncle and there was a little rust due to the Nepali floods but I sanded it off and repolished the blade you cant see the rust only a few black spots on the tip which wont do any harm other than add charatcer !!

I get a lump in my throat when I look at this cos I know Bura's work and this is a perfect knife don't get me wrong but when I look at the crescent moon mark it's different - not slightly but drastically. Shaky and about half the size of his normal mark. The blade is about 1degree off centre from the full tang but Bura's workmanship is excellent and the slabs make the knife perfectly straight.

It is deffinetly going to ne a user and I have already tested it quite a bit a we had some severe flooding and there is some cleanup needed. It is razor sharp and shaves hairs off my arm with ease. Its a real work horse and it is a beaut as well.

Thanks Uncle and HI - happy aniversary once again.

:( :D :D :D

You're a better person for having waited, aren't you?

All that practice at being patient for delivery, and tolerant of the congenial friends at the Cantina who helped support you in your time of anguish...er...by torturing you.:p

Glad it got there intact, and that you are pleased.

This was fun.
