I am looking to buy a tactical custom from $500-$700. I would like to hear any reccomendations you may have. I would like to find a knife that has a very solid lock-up and that is very reliable.

Thanks, Steve

stjames is right on with the places to buy your knife. Let us know which one you pick.

Hi Steve,

You used the term Positive Lock Up, I suspect that means you are looking for a folder.

What is your main purpose for this folder?

What blade length do you want?

I can help, but need some info like the two questions above.

Les,

I am looking for either a liner lock or an integral lock. I like the work by Terzuola, Kit Carson & Darrel Ralph. The blade length should be between 3" and 4". The use of the knife will basically be everyday use but nothing "heavy duty". I like the looks of the Davidson "baby scorpion" but I have not heard very much about his work. I look forward to hearing your response.

Thanks, Steve

I would take a good look at Mike Obenauf. He is Kit carsons appentice. he is turning out some really nice knives and the price is right. Look for him to be a big name maker with a long backlog soon.

because I like Larry. BUT, that aside, Mitch is right. Those baby scorps are a great little folder and Larry is a stand up guy. I would take a serious look at his work.

His website is here: http://home.swbell.net/dson/index.html

Good luck whatever the outcome...

-Sam.
