I'm starting this thread to continue discussion started in "hawk or large survival knife" thread. Many posted their preference for both, not either/or. My own combo depends on where I am, time of year, what I'll be doing in the woods that day. So! Post your favorite combo/combos and please list your go to all around, if you had to pick only one combo as well as your specific combo choices for specific tasks. Pics are welcome.

my companions to the hawk heaviest to lightest from left to right.

My favorite all around companion blade will likely be one of the three black coated blades (got to finish modding the D-gaurd to decide)

my possible new favorite hawk head, a FT, 10-11 oz head, light and fast above the modded trail hawk.

My combos:

I can do mostly anything with any of them, however:

The top one, GB Hunter's Axe, Jarvenpaa leuku and puukko, leans heavily on the woodscraft/woods living. The axe and leuku aren't really all that great for fighting, but they'll work in a pinch.

The second is balanced more toward the fight. If I was to live in the woods, I'd want a heavier chopper only because I'd make a fairly wood-heavy structure for more permanent housing. But it's a preference thing. Also, I tend to EDC a Busse BAD, which would also go in this combo.

The third is the most balanced for the way I work. I'd be at something of a disadvantage in a fight with someone with a lighter tool weighted more on the weapon side. In this case I'd have to try and sweep their weapon aside with the kukri and stab them in the armpit of their weapon hand with the R-10, kukri would do the final honors. But since I don't see much hand to hand combat, and almost always carry a firearm, I don't worry about that much.

Sweet, love those scandi grind knives. Definitely want a Vec pole to stick a hawk head on. Just waiting to find the right heads to send him and of course save up the money.

Lately I've been using this team in the woods.

The KaBar is a Camillus version I've had for over 20 years.

The pistol is a stainless CZ75B 9x19mm.

Hey Corp! Thoser Leukku's were prefered by several of the Nazi S.S. units for Hand to Hand combat on the Eastern front in WWII.

My combo's are usualy either my M-43 kukri and a smaller knife (usualy one of my 5"rs)

Often on dayhiokes I'll take one of my 10" bowies and my small G.L. Drew.

forget this attempt. Technical problems posting photos from photobucket

Tools like this get used on our farm on an honest daily basis. Everything from clearing the fence to scraping hogs and killing chickens..I have found that my hatchet/hawk must have a hammer poll to be really useful for me..The knife depends on the situation but mostly a light fixed blade or around 4"-5" blade length..Bigger of course if Im doing hog work ect..
This hog here was completely processed with a couple of ontario butcher knives(cheap and made from 1095) and a plumb hatchet(used to cut the chops). A hand saw was used to split the spine..
