Citizen Ti Skyhawk Eco-Drive Flight Chrono JR3060-59F opinions?

I've got a problem. I have an Omega black/black SMP (ref. 2054.50.00). I LOVE my SMP. It does everything I NEED a watch to do. My problem is I like gadgets, especially watches. I want a (analog) chronograph. I've never had one. If I had the disposable cash, I'd get an Omega Speedmaster Pro, probably a "moon watch" (ref. 3570.50.00). Unfortunately, I don't have that kind of disposable cash...

With that in mind, I'd like to try an affordable (under $300) chronograph. The Citizen Ti Skyhawk Eco-Drive Flight Chrono JR3060-59F looks like a good candidate.

Any opinions, good places to buy from, etc?

Well I don't have that particular watch but I do have the Citizen BL1020-55M and it is truly a outstanding watch! And the Eco-Drive works like a dream! For more information about that watch I suggest you ask the knowledegeable people over at the Seiko & Citizen Forum Im SURE they can tell you everything you want to know about it. Hope this helps!

This is just my opinion, but I don't like the eco-drive mechanism nearly as much as I do a true mechanical watch. It is just one rung above a cheap battery quartz movement.

Eco-drive works fine, but lacks all the precision and mechanical aura that you get with a old style watch.

I would recommend you take a look at Poljot chronographs. They have many fine mechanical watches in your price range with much more character than any Citizen. Some people knock Russian watches but I have been wearing mine constantly for about 6 months and it still works fine; and I know several others who have had similar experiences.

I find the overall quality to be comprable to many popular Swiss mechanical watches which I have seen.

That was a little harsh was it not? True it is not a mechanical but you have to admit that Quartz are more acurate than mechanicals. A good quartz has been know to go for 10-20 years and still run perfectly. I have nothing against mechanicals, in fact I own one but I would just as soon have a Eco-Drive as a mechanical. Just my opinion.

I certainly didn't mean to be harsh, sorry if my post came off that way.

Yes, quartz watches are considerably more accurate than mechanicals and capable of lasting decades. From a strictly practical sense they are generally superior to mechanical watches in many ways.

Despite that, I still don't like them. It's just a matter of personal opinion. I would imagine that somebody who is looking for a "gadget" would be intrigued by the complexity and precision that goes into a good mechanical watch.

Some people can't stand automatic transmissions, even though modern ones are as fast and efficient as most stick shifts and considerably more convenient. If you really like something pure efficiency isn't the only factor that matters.

Ok, I see what you were trying to say. Sorry for the misunderstanding! I to am intrigued with mechanical watches, but it is more with the fact that it never needs batteries. That is one reason why I liked the Eco-Drive so much. I will admit though, I doubt I would buy a battery operated watch again unless I really liked the design. One of the evil things the wealth of information on the internet has done to me! :D ;) Oh well....

I wear a Citizen Skyhawk Titanium every day. Great watch! I love the way the controls work. It provides an excellent range of functions. It is easy to read. It looks cool, appears to be indestructible, and has been perfectly reliable. What more could you want? :)

Also, mine has proven to be amazingly accurate, even for a good quartz movement. Mine is off by roughly 2 seconds per month. :D
