Forged these this past week, made the spike like a large claw. I also did one with indents and one without. Let me know which one you like the best. The bar of steel is exactly the size both of these started out as. Its 6"X 7/8" square. Both heads around 10 1/2"

I have to say I like the lines on the top one better - I think someone posted a comment in an earlier thread saying that should be a really distinctive style for your work, and I agree. The curves seem to elevate your work to the level of art. They're really beautiful, and honestly I'd never have considered buying a spike hawk before seeing those slight curves under the head (don't know the correct word for the location), but now I'm really interested. Keep the curves. :D

I have to add that I'm only a wannabee 'hawk collector - just a crappy India made 'hawk to get me started so far. When I can afford it I'd like to broaden/upgrade my collection.

Snuffy, I appreciate your comments. The bottom one does look alittle plain jane compaired to the top one. I've even been told it looks simular to a fireman's ax. I'm just trying different style, think the next thing on my mind is like a broad ax but more hawkish size but I'm going to have to get some large steel. The biggest I can get is 1" square in 1080 and when I get it I have to get it in 24' bar. I guess I could try bumping up the 7/8 and see what happens.........
