Cleaning washers -- what to use?

Took my small sebbie apart last night and washed it. The washers were pretty dirty and didn't come completely clean? Do you all do anything special when washing yours? Use any special cleanser?

Lastly, are replacement washers available?

Thanks, all!

I use MetalGlo and they come out smooth and shiny.

CRK offers replacements for all of their parts. Don't know the cost of the washer set though.

Depending on what you got on them try:

1. Widex or equivelant
2. Alcohol
3. Acytone
4. Brake Parts Cleaner
5. Gun Scrubber
6. Ether/starting fluid

If after all of that you haven't blown you house up, asphyxiated family members, ruined your skin, and inhaled potemtially harmful fumes, buy new ones.

You've got way more patience than I do Nimrod!

Flitz will polish anything. I use it to clean all of my knives. Then tuff cloth it to death.

I am not sure just what you would have got onto the washers that they didn't come clean! We do sell replacements - will cost you the mighty sum of 50 cents a piece! Be careful about polishing the washers - remember those tolerances are tight and you don't want to remove too much material or end up with a washer that is too uneven, one side to the other.

Thanks, Anne. I don't know how they got so gunked up and I don't think I have ever really tried to clean them before.

Will probably just get some new ones pretty soon.

Thanks, all!
