hi STR!

any chance you could make a copy of an existing 154CPM blade i have (i would send it to you) but make it out of 1085 (1095??) steel?

I love my ZT0200 but hate the 154CPM steel and want something that sharpens a lot easier.....

i was thinking the same thing but with a cqc14 making the a brand new blade which is longer so that it fits the handle better such as a 3-3.5 inch blade
thanks

It would not be the first time I copied an existing blade but be aware that when Ernie gave me permission to do Wave mods he specifically told me at that same time in that same letter that it did NOT mean I had permission to do it on blades I made myself so to copy a CQC14 it would have to be 'Waveless' only or it would be a patent IP violation on my part. Not going there needless to say.

I'm not sure anymore who I'd get to heat treat the 1095 blade which I'd use over 1084 personally but its your call. The guy I used to use for my own blades in that steel passed away so maybe Peters would do it for me. Seems I recall they will but I'd have to look again.

Time frame is the biggest factor guys. I'm slow right now with small jobs but the big ones are here waiting on some parts to be done and mailed back to me and I'm going to be quite busy again rolling right along. Right now though I'm enjoying a mild break from the pocket clips and Wave mods and other repair things that were abundant here last month but I've been getting those knocked out and mailed out of here finished.

I also have problems quoting a price for something like this because number one I don't know what to expect for heat treating just one or two blades. I suspect that it will be the same as heat treating 26 like I just did recently. Had I known earlier I could have had it done with others I am working on getting finished up but usually just so you know, it is cost prohibitive to do just a blade or three since most heat treat services have a minimum. You guys are liable to have a few bucks in the blade just from that which could surprise you so I'd just have to check. I usually do a minimum of 20 at a time if I do them for my folders and don't do them but spanned years apart the way I work because that last batch of 28 blades lasted me years.

I do have a 3V blade straggler that will have to be done separately here shortly though that Dave is cutting out for me over at Great Lakes Waterjet when he gets it done but even tied in with that one its not going to help you much cost wise for H/T I don't think.

A NON waved 3.5 inch cqc-14 blade would be cool ! Especially if it had a swedge and was bead blast finished.
