I had a couple of old cold steel machetes lying around and decided to try to turn them into goloks like PICT.

The theory behind that blade shape is interesting. The trailing slicing edge is not considered as important as the chopping potential. It's not a "draw cutter", though it could do that.

Do we know the thickness of the Colhane golok?

1.25mm I believe.

Just wondering.
Tramontina are actually used by people in Brasil, who arguably use them fairly often and intensively, so how the Bolo style is better than what, arguably, most people seem to be happy with in Brasil?

I just like the non pointed tip better.
Just messing around, I'm pretty new to machetes.

Awesome. Nice to have tools we don't mind taking a cutting wheel to to make them work for us.

Pict/colhane seems like a really down to earth dude with a really simple kit concept.

This is the completed product. More or less.
2 cold steel machetes cut, tops rounded, patina, enlarged choil.

Just finished doing something similiar to my CS Bolo (kinda did the Rambo 4 knife look) this morning. What are your thought about doin' a wood handle instead of the polypro handle. I'm not a big fan of the handle shape.

I'm not entirely sure what the handle looks like either. I don't think anyone has bothered to find out yet. :p
