Last week I had a customer ask me if our store carried a cold steel butterfly. I went through all of our catalogs, and even called a few stores before finding it. It's nice that theres a double edge option for one. But honestly I still think they look like crap. Who am I to say? I'm picky as hell. So any input on em would be much appreciated.

Designed by Darrel Ralph. Milled Ti handles. Really holds an edge. A little over priced.

You might want to head to the Balisong Forum. As far as I know, the Cold Steel Bali was very well received.

I think it looks great in professional photos, but looks cheap in real life.

I hate t-latches. That's just a preference, but hey, if I spend 140 dollars on a bali (and I do) I want a spring latch.

Speaking of which, why is the price higher than the 42? I mean, you can get Benchmade quality (and it is THE bali company in the first place), titanium handles, 440C blade (or even D2 for 20 dollars more on a 41) for noticeably less than the arc angel--and it even has the best spring latch out there.

Bali people are a really choosy crowd, so I imagine the only reason someone would use the arc angel over a 42 is that elusive "feel." Some say that a modified arc angel is up there with the tachyon for smoothness.

I have both an AA (spearpoint, not double edge) and a 42. The prices are so similar as to not be an issue- $125 for the 42 and $150 for the AA, big deal... don't be scared by CS and the price they'd LIKE to sell them for. Anyway the carbon V blade cuts a bit better than the 440C of the 42 out of the box, but it also is a lot more prone to tarnishing. Fit and finish I'd say they are equal.
Personally I feel that the AA has a better feel and balance than the 42 for flipping and a lot of people disagree with me on that. The AA lacks a spring latch, but it has an easily removable clip which the stock 42 doesn't. Actually ALL of the AA hardware is easily removable, its not like the 42 where all the female pins are press-fitted and need to be punched out.
So it basically comes down to personal preference of style, feel, and choice of accessories. If you can, try both to compare before buying.

The handles are milled rather than molded, which jacks the price up.

That and Cold Steel purposely inflated the price of the AA's to maintain a certain level of ownership.
