has the world gone mad!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?
a cold steel liner lock?!?!?!?!?!
what happened???
who let this happen????

AHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAH

im confused. cold steel has ridiculed liner locks for a long time. get ready, cause by the begining of the next century we may see a cold steel folder in G-10 and an ATS-?? steel.
yeah right, and i could find a spyderco military under my pillow tonight.

Don't get too excited too fast but yes they are on the horizon. However I do know what is comming out by the Shot Show and as always I spill the beans.

OK So here goes:
First there will be a medium size Gunsite folder. (My Idea)
Second look for 2 new folders in the Voyager type line up with Scimtar type blades.

There are two new folders which I will need to hold to see if I like them. They open similar to a 3 way trick knife. They call it the triple action.

I will expain more later.

mike!
check the whats new for 1999 on the cold steel website for what you are talking about on spilling the beans, as you are not completely. triple action(butterfly?), gunsite II , etc. are there.
see at www.coldsteel.com/tripleactions.html
just trying to make you feel better.
respectfully,
Larry

Any idea how the CS "Triple Action" works? Like Larry says, it looks kind'a like a balisong. Anyone got the scoop?

Thanks,
Mike

Arg.... They are getting faster over there.

The blade folds into the handle. Not a butterfly.

Are they like the junk WWII parachutist knives that they sell for about $20, the handle opens, the knife opens or closes and the handles close.

amacks

Who sells those parachutist knives ?
Cold Steel ?? Or are you talking about "they" ..as in "they say"
Wanna tell us a bit more?

And the idea of a CS linerlock is not so strange.....I have an Ultralock that I like (somewhat). Definitely a Cold Steel liner locking knife. With a little bit of re-design, the Ultralock could have been a pretty good knife.

Yeah!

A CS Ultralock II with full steel liners and steel stop pin insted of that stupid little zytel pin, perhaps a sturdier pocket clip. And a little less aggressive "teeth" on the opening device.

The knives I was refering to are made of low grade steel, frequently with 'saw teeth' on the back. They operate by having a hinge pin in the middle of each side of the handle, and the blade connecting the two handles at the bottom. Opening the handles causes the bottom half of each to swing up and in, forming a bisected triangle: the top half of each side forms the top two sides and the bottom half of each joins to form the bottom, the blade is vertical between the two and popping out of the top. A little push to move the blade past the middle point and then close the handles. You are left with the handles at half their original size and a blade the entire length of the original handle protruding from the top. Odd, but interesting.
I'm not sure how the ColdSteel knives work, but that is as good an explanation of the parachutist knives as my fingures can work.
Aaron
ps the They refers to 'The Edge', "US Cavalry" and any other of those catalogues of overpriced, knife-shapes stuff

sorry, double
Aaron

Gotcha....I know the knife you refer to.
Absolutely no connection with any military organization....certainly useless as a one hander.
There were examples with Nazi markings ...fakes which were , I believe, made in UK during the '70s with built in "age" and wear.

Geez...the thing that gets me (again) about Cold Steel's puffery is their shear nerve. Since when does AUS-10A beat CPM 440V in edge holding????? Give me a BREAK!

Gee, I've had a CS Ultralock rattling around in my toolbox for several years so the concept isn't new; seems sturdy enough for fairly heavy duty use. Not my favorite carry knife but handy for one-hand opening. I just wish CS would offer their folders in Carbon V, not to mention, a mid-sized utility/defence fixed blade (also in Carbon V) along the lines of the handy Scandinavian or Finnish traditional knives -- sort of like the cheap/unbelievably utilitarian Mora knives, only with more class. Sorry, I'm ranting here. Happy 1999, everyone!
