I have not bought a Cold Steel machete since 2005/2006, when I bought three.
I like the Cold Steel machete's, don't get me wrong. They have a good balance, and once sharpened up, they seem to hold their edge, even when used to open coconuts with the husk still on.
Since 2007/2007 has Cold Steel improved the edge they come with? (are they sharp?)
The last five I bought (of three different styles) all came with an unusable edge. I had to use a draw-through sharpener to get rid of the burrs, chips, uneven grind, and wire edge before they could be properly sharpened on a stone.
I'm thinking of getting a few more. Will I need to use the draw-through before I can put a useable edge on them?
