Cold Steel Magnum Tanto

Feb 28, 2001
I just saw a demonstration of the above-mentioned blades at my dealer's shop, and I am absolutely amazed by their incredible sharpness! I really take my hat off the San Mai III steel used to make these tantos.

While holding on to one end of a strand of hair, my dealer used the tanto to split it! Yes, the hair actually got split along its length, showing a fork. Then he proceeded to chop the hair in two.

I thought this kind of sharpness only exists in myths... Now I've seen it for myself. Too bad the Magnum tantos are pretty expensive...

I have two CS Magnum Tantos, a 7 & 1/2 inch San Mai, and a 9 inch "old-style" AUS-8A, and I can attest to the fact that these ARE great knives. In fact, they are both so darn sharp that I'm almost afraid to play with 'em.
