Cold Steel Master Tanto

I have an older CS Master Tanto and the rubber grips seem to be coming loose. It looks like they are already oversized for the guard. I can tell there is some room between the tang and the rubber, and there is a good bit of room. It is noticable when just holding the knife, you can feel the give in the rubber. Any thoughts on how to fix it? Would it be possible to replace it with wood scales?

I would think you could replace the grip. My Magnum Tanto is about 18 years old and shows no sign of that but then its never been used hard.
