I'm getting a Cold Steel Recon Tanto, and I think I recall that those are the ones that were advertised as being able to punch through car doors, yes? Are they pretty tough blades?

Thanks
Strati

Those were different. The Recon's are "less expensive" than the ones they'd show going through car doors.
Cime to think of it, I'm pretty sure I could get a screwdriver through a car door, so who knows how good a test that is, but I ain't Lynn Thompson.

Cold Steel makes a great knife.. probably one of the best values on the market, but I don't know much about knives.

Ask me about crossdressing weasels sometime.

Its a great knife, I have one. For the money you will be hard pressed to find a better knife in its performance range. It is tough, i have used mine to pry before with no ill effect. I have also hit a few nails with it and it didnt do much to the edge, the Carbon V is easy to sharpen and holds a edge very well. Good choice.

I have one of the brass-hilt originals (vintage Gulf War) with the mystery '400 Series' stainless blade. Very tough steel, holds a great edge.

Pick up a Cold Steel Master Tanto...with the 3 layer laminate blade.
Just holding it in your hand and you'll be saying "Damn" and then maybe you'll go stab some cars.
But hmmmm... maybe start with go-carts or golf carts.....then work you way up. It give ya something to strive for.

I swear by this knife!!!
I've got in use everyday and one brandnew, well kept (just in case CS stop making this model).
I tried to replace it with others like Blackjack Model 1 7", Ka-Bar USMC and even SOG Seal 2000. Nothing comes close.

Its blade is thick enough to handle most of the outdoor rough treatment.
A GREAT SIDEKICK.

Go for it Strati.
