Does a concealed weapons permit cover knives. I'll be in Durango for a week and have a 4 inch blade folder and Texas CHL. CO and TX have reciprocity. I've read the CO laws about 3 1/2 inch blades, further info would be appreciated. Like is clipped in pocket still visible, pouch O.k.? Thanks

I only know of a couple states off the top of my head (AZ and FL) where the CCW/CHL permits apply to all "weapons", not just firearms (VT allows concealment of just about anything, no permit required).

www.packing.org is your best resource for this sort of thing. In both AZ and FLs cases, they outright explain that the permit carrys over to knives and such, but doesn't say so for CO, even though it's called a "Concealed Weapon Permit". Not a definitive answer, but that would lead me to believe that the answer to your question is "No".

Use this as an excuse to buy another knife. Something smaller, perhaps classy and dressy.

Leave your 4" knife at home. Colorado limits blade to 3 1/2". If you stick with this there will be no problems if stopped. This is one of the only states if not the only that gives a blade limit. I admit I sometimes carry a longer blade and have yet to be checked. CCW does not cover knives. Hope this helps. Enjoy your stay in Colorado!

18-1-901 - Defines a knife as having a 3 1/2 inch blade or longer (Classifying anything longer a weapon). CO law goes further and states you cannot conceal a weapon. So, I cant carry it in my pocket, but can in my car and guessing I can probably carring hiking/sking in the backcountry. So what's considered open carry in CO, any comments from CO residents?

Why does this matter? If it's over 3.5" it's a Knife and a Deadly Weapon. Yes, carrying it concealed would be an additional crime.
It also mentions that a hunting knife is OK if going to or from hunting. I doubt you can conceal (well) a full sized hunting knife.
So, is your question if you can carry a WEAPON openly, and be ok in the eyes of the law? Using it, or threatening to use it is still illegal.

I dont understand,
