riiight.. so last week, i had a run in with the cops.. Im 16, female, good kid.. well they searched me and found my pocket knife. Its a basic one.. u open it all the way, it locks open...nothing special..3 inch blade.. i wanted to know that the laws were for things like that.. Lately bad things have been happening to my friends so a few of us carry knives.. If someone could just tell me the law for FL and pocket knives so everything stays legal it would be greatly appreciated..

also, would it be legal to carry to work?.. i work at a family fun park/arcade..theres been times when i needed it but didnt have it...

While I'm not an expert on FL knife laws, there are some general points:
DId the cops keep the knife? Do you carry it to school? That one's covered by the Federal "Zero Tolerance" (AKA Zero Brain Cells) program. Carrying at work comes under your employer's rules. Most employers don't like folks bringing their own knives to work, even if the job description requires one that the employer provides. (i.e. I work at Target as a stocker; they give us a little box knife for work. They don't collect them at the end of the day, we're supposed to keep track of them. Some folks have lost theirs and they use keys or another (non-issue) box knife, I have a Victorinox One-handed Trailmaster. I prefer using the box cutter so MY knife doesn't get that sticky tape all over it! ;) ) Looking over the FL knife laws at http://pweb.netcom.com/~brlevine/fl.txt it seems like a "ordinary pocketknife" is exempt from most weapon restrictions (except at school). Now comes the question, how "ordinary" is your knife, what make/model is it?
