concerned about my Jags...

I'm getting more and more used to the Jags, but still not as comfortable as I was with my light cheapie.

Flipping is slow, partly because they are so heavy, and partly because I have to be careful... I think I have maybe 6-8 cuts, not any serious, but they sure are irritating!
And on my left index finger I have 6 small holes from the serrated edge, because of doing basic horiz opening with the wrong handle, on my right index finger I have two holes. Not serious either, just enough to form small bubbles of blood, sure looks funny! (Note: I was used to manila style latch, that's why I open with the wrong handle).

Anyway it's starting to bug me.. did this happen to anyone else?

I wanna work these as fast as my old bali, but if I do.. AND if I mess up, (and knowing myself, I will!) I'm gonna cut myself seriously, to the bone, maybe carve off a piece of flesh.. it's those heavy handles!!

What about the BM42, if you mess up, will the sharpness, combined with the weight, give you any serious cuts ?

When I cut myself with my 42 it doesn't go as deep as with some of me heavier balis but since it is so much sharper, even a slight contact with the blade leaves a cut. The tip on that weehawk blade gets me once in a while and that goes in pretty deep because it is like a needle.

Well, the 42 doesn't really have the weight as an issue that the heavier BM/PC balis + jags do, so that part doesn't compound on the cuts. It does have a good deal of velocity on it that some others tend not to generate due to the smoothness of the pivot and the light handles. Some simple physics equations tell you that the faster it goes, the deeper it cuts. And the sharper you keep your 42, the worse it gets.
