This thing showed up at my office this afternoon. Oh yes, it is sweet.
I think this exact model is being phased out for two different, shorter versions- if Condor's website is accurate. That's a shame, because I wouldn't change a thing on this knife. It's long enough to do light machete work, yet handy enough to be used as a traditional knife. And folks, this thing is NASTY. It's very light for such a big knife (the blade is 11"), so you can get the blade up to speed quickly, and the thin, sharp, convex edge bites deep and hard. I went to work on several boxes here in the office- and the slashing and chopping performance was off the charts. Actually, I think it did better against cardboard than my Busse NMFBM- probably because of the edge geometry. The Busse is convex too, but it's a good bit thicker, and more obtuse. I can't wait to get this thing out in the woods!
I'm not much of a tactical guy, but if something goes "bump" in the night and my gun isn't close at hand, the Condor Jungle Bowie is what I'll be grabbing. It is an absolutely terrifying fighter design- I can't think of anything that would be more effective against critters close-in.
Does anyone else have one of these things? If the design interests anyone, I would recommend searching one out now before they dry up and are replaced by the newer, smaller versions- which probably won't be as cool.
