This was a cool project,It was forged from a piece of 3/4 inch 60 grade rebar..The rebar worked great for this,It hardened very nicely and took a great temper..Lot's of material for these laying around.
I even sharpened the Hawks beak on this one...The eye was hot cut through then drifted, nice and thick eye walls...
Any comments.

Oh yea,What do you think of the new Business cards Ebbtide did for me,They are two sided and the other side looks like a deck of playing cards with my flame t-shirt design on it..I think they are cool...

Now I'm curious - I thought rebar was very low carbon?
It certainly is a beautiful piece of work!

What I was told about Rebar is that the 60 grade is carbon, not sure what the content is but it does harden...
the 40 grade is not good for knives..
the no grade is a 50-50 shot as it is just everything in the mix,it is good sometimes and not others..That is why I stick with the 60 grade..Raymond Richards over on CKD uses the rebar for Bowie knives with great results.
So far I like it as a Hawk also. One thing about it the steel is readily available..

Great Hawk!

What do you use to drift the head? I want to try with an old hammer I found by the road. Thanks, Ken
