Whine! Cordless phones suck. Are any of them any good?

For about 3 years we have had a set of VTech phones. They have never been great, but they work. The batteries are going south and replacements cost as much as new phones. After much research, I bought a set of Panasonic phones at Costco yesterday. (The $99 set) Dang! Tin cans on a string are louder and have better sound. :( I think that I will be taking these back.

I have been looking at Siemens phones. They are a lot more expensive, but if the quality is better, they may be worth it. Any ideas?

Oh Jeeze I hate those cordless phones. I dumped my home phone so sorry I cant help. They all kept breaking and people complained. So I'm all mobile now. Good luck someone will have an answer for you.

Make your own battery pack from rechargeable batteries, I just soldered the terminals together then used black electrician tape to wrap similar to what is supplied from phone. Rechargeable batteries are not that bad in cost. A whole lot cheaper than a replacement for your phones. At least with your old phones you know what you will have.

I"ve had an AT&T sold by Sears for several years. It works great and has speaker button on the front panel which is really handy. I can set it on the work bench, table, or whatever and keep right on working while talking. Also has memory, a large LCD screen, etc. No complaints and for about $20.

I feel ya. My place of business has a very large showroom/sales floor. Generally speaking, I'm a one man show most of the time, so I really need a cordless phone to field the calls coming in as I do my other work. We are using Vtech at the moment.

The main gripe I have is that not only do I have to go with a cordless phone, said phone MUST also have a second line for incoming calls/faxes. That really cuts down on my choices.

I think I paid $79 for this one at Office Depot.
