couple of quick and dirty BA-TAC Q's

Just noticed the BA-TAC is up on the site and I have to say I'm rather tempted whilst I wait for an AD to appear.

I've a couple of questions if anyone could help me out though;

- On the blade finishes page (here) the 'urban gray' finish appears to lack a busse combat marking.

Anyone know if this is actually how it is, as I prefer a sterile knife if that's the right word.

Secondly;

- Does anyone know of a custom kydex maker who has their hands on a BA-TAC or the pattern for one?

Being in the UK I'd rather be sure I can get a sheath made.

Thanks kindly in advance for any help.

Look for a pic with the FBM in urban gray and it should be on it. The sheath makers I believe have to wait like the rest of us to get a knife.

Darn :(

Ok, many thanks for your help.

Was hoping someone might have one of the BA-TACS from the previous run.

Just to warn you, you may be waiting a bit longer for the active duty then you might think.

The active duty was one of the first knives released, and as of now we've seen almost all of the proposed blades - but there are still several that need to come out (if they are actually going to be released).

Specifically the tank buster, the public defender, the recurve fighter, the pauls hatchet tac, and a tanto prototype with a tac handle.

There were three tanto blades at blade west 2002, two prototypes of slightly different lengths, and the pub defender. One of the proto's has been released as the force one, and i'm not sure if the other will go through, or if it will just be the public defender.

Needless to say, it looks like at least 5 more rotations before we get back to the previously offered blades, wich could mean as much as another year depending on how long they are offered.

If you intend on using this as a safe queen, its worth noting that you will at very least get your money back on resale. you might not get much more depending on the market at that time - but you'll definitely get a 1 to 1 sale value. And even if you intend on using it - you'll probably be able to sell it for at or above retail anyways.

I imagine that this, along with the natural outlaw (wich is seemingly just as rare on the secondary market as the force one is) is going to end up being one of those "everybody wants one" blades, since its just ont he border line of tasks - big enough to do some chopping, but able to be edc within city limits.
