Yes, this is kind of a double post, but I wanted to share it here in the kitchen.
5" blade 10" OAL
1/16" CPM-S30V w/ ebony scales
Brass corby bolts
Sandblasted finish and sanded bevel. I got the idea from a the Carter Cutlery Kuri-uchi Wabocho. Since I think the blasted finish looks good on S30V I tried something similar. This has a crisp, clear line on the bevel. This is the first knife I've done that didn't have a convex or full flat grind. It's hard getting a nice clean line on such thin steel.
The handle, however, turned out great. It feels like factory made plastic(I think that's a good thing). I did 8 layers of CA sanding to 400 grit after the first 6 and 1000 after the last 2. Then I buffed with tripoli and it really shines!
I didn't make a matching cutting board because The Woodsmith Store doesn't have ebony in large enough pieces to make an end-grain board.
This knife is going to Dave Larsen, who is a knife maker.
