I hear that many are the fans of the Kasper Companion (I think both for the custom version and the production version). So here's a couple of question after some searching failed.
Are all CRKT Companions chisel ground? I don't like chisel ground blades.
Many have suggested to wear the Companion horizontal on the belt. Does any of you found that the handle makes it uncomfortable because I've handled it before and it seems that the handle would be a tad thick for horizontal carry at the back. Anyone modified the handles so that it becomes thinner?
Sorry if there was a thread like this but I couldn't find it.

Hi calyth...

I'm not sure that the blade is chisel ground..

I know mine isn't..
Its a standard V-grind,,unless something has changed that I'm not aware of...

I don't think the handle is too think to wear horizontal...

I sell a lot of sheaths for the companion,,and I include a horizontal loop just for this purpose..I've talked with several people who use the H-loop exclusively and they seem to like it..

I wear mine on occasion horizontal and don't have a problem with it...

This size of knife is about the outter limits of a knife you would carry horizontal though...

I guess it all depends Where you wear it as well..
I carry all my horizontal blades in the BBC (Belt Buckle Carry) position...

Wearing it on the side is a little on the dangerous side in public...

Well I caught your site ;) and when I get a bit more money you'll probably see me ordering from you.
I've seen a Companion that is the combo edge, and I found the otherside is ungrounded, which kinda drives me nuts. They generally don't cut as well.
I understand that in Canada we tend to have a bit more sheeple than the US, and of course wearing it on the side causes problems. I'm currently tying my F4's sheath at the back and it's doing ok.
Where is the knife exactly when people wear it in belt buckle form? is the knife in front instead?

Hey calyth....

Yes..
Belt Buckle Carry is Right up front,,where the belt buckle would be..
It is one of the most comfortable places to carry and the safest from possibly being Snatched from you...

I Never suggest wearing a blade horizontal in the back unless it is IWB..
To easy for someone to grab..Very little control over it...

Where are you from BTW...

I noticed you said "We tend to have"

No chisel on mine !
All my CRKT knives come sharp,
but the companion was the sharpest!
I like to carry it IWB / SOB ~ 30% canted.

Only thing i wanted to be better was weight of the grip-
had a friend who could erode some steel off:

Hey CRKT: you could save lots of steel making the grips lighter!

Hi Sifu

a friend of me knows someone who works in a factory where they have
a eroding device ;) . (Sorry, dont know the english word, also my translator-software doesn`t :( -German word is: "erodieren")
It is cutting with elektric, without heat. GREAT!

Now i hope i can talk my friend into polishing the blade and fitting
wooden scales on this knife as he did with my CRKT M16:

:)

Sorry if i did confused you guys, my main question is to ask whether all the blades have the edge ground on one side only. I probably did confused plenty of you guys.

calyth, my CRKT Kasper Companion does not have a chiselground edge.It is bead blasted finish, plain edge. JB.

have a plain edge. like the others, no chisel grind. some combo edged knives are chisel ground due to the serrations. i also lightened up my companion by taking the zytel handle slabs off and drilling holes in the handle with a carbide tipped drill, then put the zytel back on.
