How many of you guys know of (more like remember) the CRKT custom collaboration with Chris Reeve? I new nothing of this knife (and have not read anything about it on this forum), BUT a while ago I was looking at work at an old insert (for an old, out of production CRKT knife) and saw a picture of it. I was shocked because I had never heard of it or seen it. Well, all this rambling has a point... Was this knife produced? What ever happened to it? Why don't I hear people talk about it? Does anyone have one?

I believe that CRKT made a knife similiar to the Sebenza called the "S2" that had titanium scales with the CRK frame lock.

They were produced, though I am unsure for how long.

Ok, so it is not produced, that explains it. But there were pictures of the knife in the insert, it just got me thinking, thanks for the help!!!

The S2 I believe is still produced and it does have the frame lock.

Thanks,

IIRC,
CRKT was going to do a Chris Reeve collaboration that was basically a Sebenza with the handle made of fiberglass reinforced nylon (much along the lines of the Schrade Lake and Walker). I'm not sure if they actually went to production or not, but apparently there were some problems with the knife and neither side was satisfied. So it became a flash in the pan, a miniscule blip on knife timeline.

This might be why Chris Reeve has been so reluctant to do another factory collaboration.

I've got one of the first S2's made out of ATS-34. Current production models are AUS-118. They do kinda look like a Sebbie, maybe they just did a copy of sorts.

Pretty much what Paul wrote. If memory serves it was an old (8 years maybe) Skylands Cutlery catalog that had an ad for them but they hadn't gone into production yet then when I asked Greg it was a no go.This was when CRKT only had a few knives like the Commander and were pretty much no where near the size they are today.

I thought all the S-2 models were still in ATS-34? If not, I better look into getting a small model in ATS-34...

Paul is correct. I remember reading a small article regarding this a few years back in Blage magazine.

Rumor has it that Chesapeake Knife & Tool received some of the prototypes of a CRKT Sebbie after the project was canned.
