Well it's been along time since I've posted. Couple years I think, about the time I started scuba diving. Anyways I've been watching for awhile but not posting and after having my budget shot for so long from tech scuba diving I decided I needed to see what was new and buy something. Although in no way extravagant, I've always admired the CRKT's for there quality for the price. So being that I needed a new knife besides the Spyderco Cricket I just bought I decided to get one of the Tac's in large and small. Total I paid $35.00 shipped from eBay.

I have not had a chance to put these knives to work so here are my first impressions.

I'll start with the large. This knife was allot thicker than I imagined. I figured corners would be cut and it would just be a thin handle and blade, to my surprise this thing is thick and has an awesome grip. The grooves cut into the bolsters offer great grip and do to the thick cut nicely rounded grooves I feel that this knife will be comfortable even after long use. Now for the lock up, again I was surprised no blade play either way. I can however with enough pressure exerted on the spine can see the liner lock flex a little. Could be a problem under heavy use but nothing I think is worth getting worked up over on a knife in this price range. Now on to cosmetics, again I was surprised I bought these thinking I could make my own handles to replace the zytel scales. I must say they did a nice job with the scales I almost thought they were another material due to their polish and fit at first. I still might make some scales but these won't go in the trash like my CRKT Bear Claw scales. Overall fit and finish on this knife is awesome. I'd have to give it an 8 out of 10. Blade bevel is great bringing it to a decent edge. Once I put it on the Tri-angle it should be awesome. It is slightly uncentered when closed but again not an issue Last the belt clip is nice and strong I believe will hold up.

Now on to the small. Not going to go into the positives about this one as they are right up there with the large. One thing which I feel needs mentioning again is that for this being a small grip it also has an awesome grip. So now the bads, it has a slight side to side play that might tighten sufficiently after I tighten the torque screws up. For bad that's about it the liner engages nicely just off center to the left of the blade and does not flex at all when the spine is pushed on like the large.

Ok so that's about it, like I said these were just my first impressions. Hope by being gone so long my writing skills didn't go in the crapper. On another note Hi to all again.

The only problem I have with the lower priced models of CRKT knives is the AUS-6 steel they use in their blades. In my experience with AUS-6 I've found it takes a razorsharp edge in about 30 seconds and loses it just about as fast.
